Step-by-Step IPKVM Setup and Usage Tutorial for Windows OS
IPKVM (short for Internet Protocol Keyboard, Video, and Mouse) is a remote server management tool that allows administrators to access and control a server as if they were physically present. It provides access to the server’s keyboard, video, and mouse functions over an IP network. This capability is particularly useful for managing servers that are located in remote data centers or are otherwise inaccessible physically.
Key Features of IPKVM
Full OS & BIOS Control: IPKVM provides remote access to a dedicated server’s BIOS and operating system, enabling administrators to perform full management tasks as if they were physically present. This includes troubleshooting boot issues, configuring BIOS settings, and installing or repairing the OS without dependency on the primary network connection.
Platform Independence: Works regardless of the operating system or server state, making it invaluable for troubleshooting.
Out-of-Band Management: Operates independently of the server’s primary network connection, ensuring access even if the server OS fails or the network is down.
